S’more Rice Krispie Treats

Summer is in full swing! It’s the perfect time to get out and enjoy some beautiful weather, explore new places, and connect under starry skies around a fire! I love to get out and camp as much as possible this time of year and nothing elevates a summer campfire quite like s’mores! It’s one of those classic staples that invokes nostalgia/comfort while creating more fun!

If you live somewhere with a fire season (like we do in Oregon) we have a short window to enjoy a fire in the woods – but this treat allows you to bring all the ooey gooey deliciousness of s’mores to the woods (or wherever you want) whenever without igniting a spark!

Im truly a sucker for s’more inspired food year round because the combination is just so simple, nostalgic, and satisfying. Some treats really don’t deliver the full s’more fantasy but I can 100% stand by these! Broiling half the marshmallows in the oven helps give off more of that fire-roasted flavor. Warning: these are addictive! The crunch the Rice Krispie gives makes these *almost* better than the real thing! You can stick with the classic brands or find/make your own healthier version for this recipe! Also, feel free to get creative! If you prefer a PB s’more, add Reese’s instead of a chocolate bar. Or get fancy and add in any flavor you choose! The fun of crispy treats is that they are incredibly simple to make and the possible combinations are endless!

Strain Pairing:

The strain S’mores would be the obvious and ideal choice for this treat! As the name suggests this cross between Stardawg x Pink Panther has a creamy/chocolatey favor and scent. It’s an Indica leaning hybrid with a strong body relaxing effect that leaves you feeling cerebral, relaxed, and ready to crawl into your sleeping bag for a nice stoney cozy night! If you prefer something a bit more active and creative for daytime adventures strains like Horchata or Gelato 41 still has a similar profile but less of a sedative effect.

Cannabis Ingredients:

  • 1/4 canna butter

Ingredients:

  • 1 12oz box of Rice Krispie cereal
  • 2 packs of graham crackers
  • 3-4 chocolate bars of choice
  • 20 oz mini marshmallows (2 bags)
  • 1/4 cup of butter (more or less depending on your preferred cannabis dosage)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Recipe-

  1. Prepare a large baking dish ( I used a ) and a baking tray with parchment paper and set your broiler to high. Pour half of the marshmallows onto the baling tray and spread evenly.
  2. Combine the Rice Krispie cereal, chocolate pieces, and crushed up graham cracker in a large bowl
  3. In a medium size pot start melting the non-infused butter on low-medium heat. Once the butter is melted add half of the marshmallows.
  4. With a rubber spatula keep stirring the marshmallows around until they start to melt. Once the marshmallows become more of a marshmallow sauce/paste add in the cannabis butter, * the trick is to not expose it to too much heat. Add it in when the marshmallows are melted enough to be ready to pour
  5. When the marshmallow is ready pour it in batches (working quickly) into the krispie mixture and stir. Spread the mixture out on the lined baking dish for more room to work.
  6. Next, pop the other half of marshmallows (on the lined baking tray) into the pre-heated oven/broiler. Broil from about 1.5-2 minutes. ** make sure not to go a second over unless you love the burnt mellow taste! The tops char quickly!
  7. Once they are ready combine it with the rest of the mixture. Mix and spread everything out evenly and let settle cool for about an hour before cutting into squares (portioned out to your desired dose)
