Infused Honey

Canna-honey is a beautiful way to incorporate cannabis into different dishes from breakfast to dessert. It tends to not have as strong of a psychoactive effect as oil or butter (since there is zero fat) but it does have a nice, calming, and uplifting effect when added to things. If you’d like to create a non-psychoactive THC-A or CBD infused honey, simply skip the decarbing process and use a strain the the effects you prefer. Since there is no fat for the cannabis to hold onto in honey, sadly a lot of the cannabinoids will be strained out with the plant, however if you add a distillate or full spectrum oil in combination to the flower you’ll see stronger effects.

Just like the other mediums this is a fun recipe to get creative with! Infusing different medicinal herbs or flowers into the honey along side cannabis will help promote wellness in a verity of ways. For example, infusing your oil with lavender or chamomile can help promote relaxation and boost the immune system, pine needles can help as an anti-inflammatory, and infusing with something like rose petals will be rich in antioxidants.

Cannabis Ingredients:

  • 1/2 ounce of decarbed cannabis
  • You could also use keif or concentrate.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups local honey (raw preferred)
  • ~ 1/2 cup herbs of choice (if any)

Recipe:

  1. Decarb your cannabis
  2. In a double boiler add the honey and let it warm at medium-low heat. **Note that low and slow is the best method for this recipe. A lot of the medicinal benefits of honey can burn off quickly, so keeping it at a low heat in crucial for maintaining its beauty
  3. Add the cannabis to the honey and whisk to combine
  4. Bring this to a simmer for at least 45 minutes without it coming to a boil. Stir often and remember, low and slow!
  5. Whisk again and pull off the heat
  6. Once the mixture is completely cool line the bottom of a staralized mason jar with the herb of your choice and line the top with cheesecloth.
  7. Strain the honey through the cheesecloth into the mason jar. Its ok if some of the cannabis gets through since we will be straining it again. However, if you are not infusing your honey with other herbs, you can stop here and strain until clear.
  8. Steal and store let the herbs infuse for at least 4 days. For a stronger flavor infuse for longer.
  9. Strain the honey into a clean jar and store in a dark, cool place.
  10. Stores for several months. Infusion strength may vary.
